Cuba Update

by Dr. Marion Dodson   SOC Director

God Bless you my fellow workers,
Pastor Delvis Mercado returned from a very hard, wonderful work in Cuba. He encountered a lot of resistance from the authorities, holding up the School of Christ books for six days, but God heard all of their prayers and the books were finally freed. Praise God for the open doors to walk through and be able to present this marvelous gospel using the School of Christ.

We will be having our graduation here at Funavid tomorrow night with students from several cities/villages. All of your prayers are very important to us, thank you for persevering with us.

In Christ Jesus
Dr. Marion Dodson

Guantanamo, Cuba     by Pastor Delvis Mercado Soza

Delvis Mercado Soza We have returned from Cuba after a long day of work; we are sure it was necessary to build up the body of Christ in that nation.

We were under a lot of opposition from the enemy, however we did our work that God commanded us; On November the 3rd, after two days and many necessary steps in Havana with the relevant authorities, we saw a significant advancement of the School in that nation.

We started the school with all the passion that the Holy Spirit placed in our hearts for more than forty pastors from different denominations. There came together Baptists, Assemblies of God, Pentecostal Christian Church, Church of God in Christ, Evangelical Church and the Church World Evangelical League.

Forty-five percent of the pastors we had as participants, were very humble men who came from remote and mountainous areas where God had placed them to preach the gospel.

It is very hard to explain the difficulties we faced in order to carry out an event of this magnitude, but it was easy to see how powerful our God is, and through this school of Christ, whose mission is the restoration of Pentecost, we saw every man of God confronted by the truth and each day their lives were linked again to the altar where every man must live before God (in prayer). To God be the glory.

Jose Alfredo Evangelista Reinosa, the man of God had a very good reputation with many years of ministry, testified saying, That every day he lived in the School of Christ, the Holy Spirit of God brought such strong conviction that he had to repent of those things which had entered his ministry so unconsciously, and gave God all the glory. After serving God many years, had not, until now, found a school that teaches a pure gospel and correcting the motivations of the heart.

He said he lost the power of pentecost simply because he move away from the cross, but thank God for the School of Christ, that came to open our eyes of understanding.

We glorify God with every testimony we heard of each student, certainly we saw the glory of God with many students. Many people recognized this as gospel truth for their lives, and in worship we saw many people that were healed of many diseases, and especially the fruits of the Holy Spirit were seen in a wonderful way for students.

Pastor Javier Trujillo Guantanamo came as a representation of the students to handout 24 diplomas for students who finished the School.

After the school ended, we left Baracoa back to Havana where more than 300 people who traveled from different provinces celebrated a graduation of more than 60 students. But in the case of Santi Spirit and Pinar del Rio, there came representations as all could not come for reasons of transportation, but even so during the celebration the name of Jesus was powerful, the graduates were filled with joy upon receiving the diploma certifying them as graduate students of the School of Christ.

In the community of Pinar del Rio Open, Pastor Jose Guillermo Viamonte, a graduate student in 2010, started the School of Christ with a group of brothers brought their church, much of the church began to see a gospel that confronted them with the truth, they testified that they felt weak as I was praying about what was happening in the church, they echoed the words spoken by the pastor who said that Bro. Clendennen was looking for quality and not quantity, and sayed it will continue to prepare those who had fallen and that God brought a revival that no longer fit in that little temple called MOUNT OF PRAISE. They said that the glory of God had visited them, and that even the military are turning to Christ.

Lazarito Pastors Humberto and Pinar del Rio, conducted a school in his congregation, and came while Latin American university students from Cuba are studying for a college scholarships in Cuba, most of them are: Bolivia, El Salvador, Congo among others and was wonderful to see this beautiful group who arrived on a bus from Pinar del Rio, to God be the glory that from Cuba this gospel of Pentecost is coming to the nations.

This is the result of our prayers and economic contributions of many brethren, that this school progress in these countries. To 118 graduate students. Over the many schools that are teaching in many parts of the country, the phenomenon that is happening is that pastors who graduate from the School of Christ depart mostly to implement the school as a basic study in their congregations.

I held a meeting with Pastor Neri Cardozo, president of Christian Assemblies churches, he leads over 150 pastors. He came to ask us to please come to Havana to train their pastors with the School of Christ, he said he met pastors who had received the school, and have seen how their lives and ministries have been transformed.

He mentioned that this was the mission of the School of Christ, to restore the pentecostal message, when I told him that, the Holy Spirit came upon him and he said I will be praying for Pastor Delvis to come in the month of May 2012 and conduct a school with 50 pastors of the city of Holguin. As you will see God has opened doors and no man can shut them, but we have to work with all passion for the school continues to be a blessing for all those pastors and leaders who come to be blessed with this message.

Yours in Christ,
Delvis Mercado Soza
