Dominican Republic Prison Report
by Randy Munter SOC Director
The School of Christ is now in the prisons of the Dominican Republic thanks to one of our graduates of the School who served time in a Texas prison.
Brother Marcos Pichardo was incarcerated in a Texas prison facility and successfully graduated the School of Christ Correspondence Course through our office here in Beaumont, Texas. Once he was released, Brother Pichardo felt the call of God to take the School of Christ back to his native land, the Dominican Republic, and share the gospel with those who are incarcerated and without hope in a country where 90% profess to be Roman Catholics.
Brother Pichardo wrote me explaining his burden and requested the School of Christ material. With his permission I have posted his e-mails. He wrote and said...
"Hermano Randy, my name is Marcos Pichardo and I'm writing to you to tell you that I'm visiting the local jail here in my country, Dominican Republic, sharing the Word and making copies of the lessons from the book The School of Christ.
I'd like to ask you if there's a possibility to provide The Ministerio de Prisiones Nuevo Renacer with the dvds and the projector to take the School of Christ to other prisons and churches in my country.
I was in a Texas Jail for twenty seven months and experienced the teaching of the school over there, which I'd like to share it here. Hermano, I pray the Lord will confirm you with what I'm asking. God Bless you!"
This was a prayer answered and a great door opened for the School of Christ to reach into the prisons of the Dominican Republic. I immediately sent the materials he requested, minus the projector (which we do not provide). A few days later, Brother Pichardo wrote me again...
"Hermano Randy, thank you for the dvds, they arrived yesterday noon. So far, I'm making copies of the book by lessons and the brothers here are expecting the videos. On the other hand, God is in control. Last week a brother in jail approached us and said that the church wants us to teach them on regular day, not just a visiting day. He said that a lawyer in jail will take the legal steps to arrange half of the Saturday for us to visit them.
Hermano, this is God's ministry and He will open and close doors and touch hearts to provide. One day you will come here to see the ministry, and I promise one thing, anything this ministry needs, THE OWNER will provide for it. I think the same way George Mueller thought, HE WILL PROVIDE!!! I wouldn't ask to antone for anything if I don't bow my knees first.
This is my pray for this ministry. 'Lord, this is your ministry, you will provide for it and open the doors in jail.' Hermano, I don't know who will supply the projector and the screen, but one thing I know, HE KNOWS WHO.
Thank you for your help and I will keep you posted of any detail.
God's grace be with you, God Bless."
This man truly caught the burden to minister Christ and what a blessing he has become for the Kingdom of God. A week later, I received this last e-mail from Brother Pichardo letting us know that God had provided a projector for the work there.
"Brother Randy, yesterday was delivered the projector the Lord has sent through the Church Victory for the School of Christ in prison here in the Dominican Republic. Praise the Lord! I'll keep you posted as we continue to minister."
Please keep this Brother in prayer as he works for the Lord spreading the Good News and winning souls to the Kingdom. I look forward to the next report letting us know what great things the Lord is doing through His humble servant Marcos Pichardo, and the School of Christ.
